Milan hosted a great Fur and Leather Exhibition last week. More than 200 exhibitors from all over the world and four interesting thematic areas: B.box (young and sophisticated prêt-à -porter, where fur is combined with other materials), Crossover (proposals from the most important companies), Glam Av (italian firms registered with the National Chamber of Italian Fashion) and K.Point. (companies upstream in the supply chain ).
We saw all the news for the next season in the stands and during the fashion show and we talked to two important figures: Roberto Scarpella, the President of the Italian Furs, and the fashion designer Samantha De Reviziis, Lady Fur.
Roberto Scarpella said that Mifur is an important places for italian firms where they can show the best of their production. He added then that young people are getting more and more interested in fur and in accessories made with fur and that (a really good sign), despite the crisis, this fashion market is increasing.
A special fashion designer attracted my attention: Lady Fur. Her real name is Samantha De Reviziis and she is the most important fur blogger in the world. Her website, welovefur.com, is translated in three languages. She studied fashion design at European Institute of Design and specialized in Fur Trade in Denmark. Her items of clothing for the next season are elegant, young and perfect for the every day life. Fur passion depends on Samantha’s grandmother but her style is fashionable, all fuchsia and black for a crazy fall/winter 2014-2015.
According to Samantha, italian young people think that fur coats are something for grandmothers but in Asia, in the United States or in Russia things are different. We’ll see!
